This is certainly interesting
I want to know more about this. It's sort of ironic, coming after a week of news about the 9/11 probe, which tore Bush a new one for not doing enough to "connect the dots" and prevent a terror attack. It sounds like connecting the dots is exactly what Bush did in Iraq, but of course he got criticized for that too, and by many of the same people.
Russia warned the United States on several occasions that Iraq's Saddam Hussein planned "terrorist attacks" on its soil, President Vladimir Putin said Friday."After the events of September 11, 2001, and before the start of the military operation in Iraq, Russian special services several times received such information and passed it on to their American colleagues," he told reporters.
The Kremlin leader, who was speaking in the Kazakh capital, said Russian intelligence services had many times received information that Saddam's special forces were preparing terrorist attacks in the United States "and beyond its borders on American military and civilian targets."

So, there might not be a link between SH and OBL, but he might have been planning on acting on his own initiative? Sort of makes Russia's not backing the war worse than France and Germany's refusals, doesn't it? That is interesting. What is My Way news, by the way?

It's just a news portal.
I have never doubted that Russia's reticence to join the coalition was rooted in naked self-interest. The only thing I can really say to their credit is that they didn't dress up their opposition to the war in the ridiculous garb of moral self-righteousness the way the French did, nor did they actively undermine American and British efforts in the Security Council (again, as did the French).
BTW, is it considered poor form to comment on one's on blog?
