Perhaps the only thing that annoys me more these days than the plethora of different colored ribbons all standing for something or other are the mass grief sites that have become so ubiquitous to our country.
Why must we show that we empathsize with grief in such an overt fashion.
It isn't our grief, really. Only on a peripheral basis. And yet, we create these damned monstrosities of kitch at the drop of a hat.
We seek to insinuate our compassion onto others' lives rather than leaving them alone to deal with their pain.
How did people deal with this, say 20 years ago, before these maudlin outpourings of 'I feel your pain' commenced?
