Mistakes were made at all levels, and while it's undeniable that FEMA's response time was not acceptable, we cannot absolve the local authorities of their responsibilities as front-line responders. Well, there are some honorable conservatives that say other things like:
"The bottom line is that despite the fact the president was strapped with two governors who bungled this crisis badly, in the end it is the president who sends in the National Guard and FEMA relief. The president's suggestion that the size of this storm caught all by surprise just doesn't get it. His administration was 48 hours late sending in the National Guard and poor Americans got raped and killed because of those mistakes."

P.S. I always thought that Joe Scarborough, despite being a conservative republican, is honorable and honest. His script above definitely reinforces this.

When the levees went, NOLA was history. What did the levees in?
WHY did Bush cut levee money out of three budgets in a row? Why did the GOP Congress do it? WHY did Bush put a know-nothing hack in charge? WHY is BUsh still waiting to take charge?
