Worst political instincts ever
Sorry to keep harping on this, but I just can't get the image out of my head: John Kerry interrupting his anti-Semite convention to phone in a filibuster... from Switzerland.
What an image, huh? It's nearly the most Kerryesque thing I can possibly imagine. I understand that he's trying to insert himself back into the good graces of the Democratic base, but I think it's much more likely that this will only serve to remind them why he lost.
I can't remember a major politician in my lifetime with worse political instincts, quite honestly. I'm flabbergasted that he actually believes he has a chance at the 2008 nomination.
Meanwhile, this can't be the reaction he had in mind.
Asked if the administration was taking Kerry's call for a filibuster seriously, White House press secretary Scott McClellan chuckled on Friday and said: "I think it was a historic day yesterday. It was the first ever call for a filibuster from the slopes of Davos, Switzerland."

Have to disagree with you Barry...The knee-slapper is that he really does have a chance at the 2008 Democrat nomination!

I have to disagree with you, WF. The last time the Dems re-ran a failed candidate was 50 years ago.
Kerry obviously thinks he has a chance, I will grant that much.
My feeling is that he is serving as a 'useful idiot' right now.

It's not that I think he will get the nomination. I'm laughing because it is within the realm of possiblity that he would get the nomination. Neither Kerry nor the Democrats yet understand that Kerry lost because he ran such a crappy campaign.
I'll disagree with you in one respect, Mal: I never thought of him as "useful" in any respect.

Fair points and a definite touche!
My gut is that they will look to someone such as Mark Warner of Virginia which, if the punsters from the right are accurate, could set up an all-Virginia battle with George Allen.
God, when Scott can make light of you, one has hit rock bottom in credibility.
As Bugs Bunny would say: "What a maroon!"
