Life imitates Scrappleface

All right, I apologize in advance for this, but I just can't resist. Suppose a right-wing blogger had predicted that the headlines in the first week after Tuesday's elections would include "Iran Declares Victory," "Rumsfeld Charged with War Crimes" and "Democrats Seek War Advice from George McGovern." Outlandish. Coulteresque, if I may.

Sometimes, however, truth is stranger than fiction.

I don't think the Democratic party can control what somebody says in Iran, or what some wingnut newpaper decides to print.

I mean, Chimp certainly tries to control freedom, but he is a criminal and a traitor.

> don't think the Democratic party can control what somebody says in Iran...

They can't. It does make for amusing headlines, however.

The Ku Klux Klan often gives a ringing endorsement to Republican candidates. Most don't consider it newsworthy.

Abortion clinic bombers and Corporate criminals also support the Republican party.

Maybe Fox will headline these facts.

Once again...factually deficient Barely.

Most KKK types and neo-nazis are Democrats, even David Dukes was a registered Democrat for years, before running as a Republican.

It bears noting that many of America's enemies in the Mideast are celebrating a Democratic victory. Many of them see it as retreat from the war on terrorism on America's part - or, at least a triumph of the will to negotiate over the will to war.

That doesn't seem very likely, as the Dems have no plans on a withdrawl even from Iraq and have said nothing about reining in, for instance, our ramped up domestic security measures.

I think many enemies abroad, like many Leftists here will be sorely disappointed by the Democratic agenda vis-a-vis the WoT.

Thanks for pointing that out, JMK. It makes my point much stronger:

In 1975, Duke sought a seat in the Louisiana State Senate as a Democrat. In 1988, he ran in the Democratic Party primary for President of the United States. After a poor showing in the Democratic primaries, he appeared on many state ballots as the nominee of the Populist Party and received 47,047 votes in the 1988 general election. Trenton Stokes of Arkansas was Duke's running mate.

Oops, the Democrats rejected racist David Duke!

In December 1988, he switched political affiliation from Democratic to Republican.

Ah, the former Grand Wizard of the KKK realizes he is in the wrong party!

In 1989, he ran as a Republican for a seat representing Metairie in the Louisiana State House of Representatives. He defeated fellow Republican John Treen, the brother of David C. Treen, the first Republican to be elected governor of Louisiana since Reconstruction, by a narrow margin of 51-49 percent. Duke's victory came despite visits to the district in support of John Treen's candidacy by President George H.W. Bush, former President Ronald Reagan, and other GOP notables.

Wow, racist Repugs take the Grand Wizard over the Gipper.

Pathetic. Thanks for pointing it out, JMK.

Whoops!

I have to clear thing sup for you, yet again.

The Republicans campaigned AGAINST Dukes in 1989. The very article you used to justify your poor judgment attests to that, "Duke's victory came despite visits to the district in support of John Treen's candidacy by President George H.W. Bush, former President Ronald Reagan, and other GOP notables."

Again, when you try and use articles to advance your POV, try and use articles that actually agree with your viewpoint.

You'll find it's generally a lot more effective.
