I think, and I'm not sure because I have never watched anything Sascha Cohen has done, that Borat is a character that Cohen made up for his show, so in that sense, it's adapted. But again, I'm not sure. It's a guess.

No, K, you're right. It's because Borat was an existing character, and some of the bits were from Da Ali G Show.
