God, it was terrible!!!!!!
Sorry I've been gone for so long, but it wasn't my fault, really! See, I was violently and brutally attacked by vicious, left-wing thugs who sought to silence my brave and dissenting voice. I was speaking truth to power... or... something like that, and they... well, they just couldn't take it... or....
Okay, that's all bullshit. But it DOESN'T MATTER!! Because in the CLIMATE of Chimpy McHitlerBurton's Fa$csit AmerKKKa, such a travesty COULD happen, and that's the IMPORTANT thing, so don't lecture me about reporting it, wingnuts!
Anyway, I'm glad to learn that Randi Rhodes really wasn't victimized by hate-mongering, right-wing radio types after all. Yes, I mean that Randi Rhodes. (Isn't right-wing hate radio awful?)
(BTW, why does a healthy, grown woman just "fall down" and bust out teeth while walking the dog? Can we officially welcome Jack Daniels and Jim Beam into the Vast, Right-Wing Conspiracy? Why not? Because I can easily imagine her being drunk, that means I'm safe in reporting it.)
Missed you guys.
(Hat tip to Jill for the whole sorry Randi Rhodes spectacle.)

Hey Barry,
I am happy to see you are still around. By the way, Randi Rhodes is very cool. I love her show.

So, if you bother to read the story, Randi Rhodes never claimed to have been attacked at all. Some guy that nobody has heard of was speculating.
On the other hand, here are the Hannity/O'Reilly/Limbaugh approved comments of a constant conservative Fox News guest:
"[Clinton] masturbates in the sinks."---Rivera Live 8/2/99
"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.'"---Hannity & Colmes, 6/20/01

On Princess Diana's death: "Her children knew she's sleeping with all these men. That just seems to me, it's the definition of 'not a good mother.' ... Is everyone just saying here that it's okay to ostentatiously have premarital sex in front of your children?"..."[Diana is] an ordinary and pathetic and confessional - I've never had bulimia! I've never had an affair! I've never had a divorce! So I don't think she's better than I am."---MSNBC 9/12/97
"I think there should be a literacy test and a poll tax for people to vote."---Hannity & Colmes, 8/17/99

"We're now at the point that it's beyond whether or not this guy is a horny hick. I really think it's a question of his mental stability. He really could be a lunatic. I think it is a rational question for Americans to ask whether their president is insane."---Equal Time

"Clinton is in love with the erect penis."---This Evening with Judith Regan, Fox News Channel 2/6/00

What does the fact that Anne Coulter is an idiot have to do with some other nut on the left leaping to the conclusion that Randi Rhodes was attacked by a right wing hit squad?
If anyone believes Barry is an Anne Coulter fan...then they don't know Barry

Coulter is trash, absolute trash. But like you, I'm still trying to figure out her relevance here.
Posted by: BNJ | October 17, 2007 05:11 PM
I totally agree that Ann Coulter is trash. She is antiamerican and behaves like an illiterate fascist. But Randi Rhodes is not a "nut". She is cool.
Posted by: Blue Wind | October 17, 2007 05:52 PM
Admit it, Barry, you were trying to rip on Randi Rhodes based on what some nobody said, not on anything she said.
That makes it exactly the same as saying that Fox News holds the same positions as Ann Coulter, since they frequently put her on the air to debate and speak on behalf of "conservatives".
Admit it, you were attempting to make a very popular progressive look like a "moonbat" based on something she never even said herself. Then you suggested that she fell because she was drunk.
Thanks for living up to that high Karl Rove standard your party set.

Good to have you back, man! And as for Coulter, yeah, trashy... ain't it HOT!! (Remember the song "I like my women a little on the trashy side")

Bye.

Randi Rhodes "popular?"
She had some of the lowest ratings (OK, AAR didn't garner ratings anywhere) especially here in "liberal NYC."
Hell, Randi couldn't even get ratings in some of the most Liberal markets in the country.
And Barry was referring to Jill who posted this from Talking Radio;
"Randi Rhodes was mugged on Sunday night on 39th Street and Park Ave, nearby her Manhattan apartment, while she was walking her dog Simon.
"According to Air America Radio late night host Jon Elliott, Rhodes was beaten up pretty badly, losing several teeth and will probably be off the air for at least the rest of the week. At of late Monday night we have not able to locate any press accounts of the attack and nothing has been posted on the AAR website.
"Several liberal blogs, including the Randi Rhodes Message Board and Democratic Underground have logged numerous posts on the Rhodes mugging with most of the posters expressing concern about the condition of the popular lib talker.
"Morning talk host, Lionel filled in for Rhodes on Monday, but did not say anything about why she wasn’t on hand to do her show. The Randi Rhodes board reports that Sam Seder, who does a Sunday afternoon show for AAR, will be filling on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"Elliott was extremely agitated when he reported on the incident. He opened his show by saying "it is with sadness that tonight I inform you that my Air America colleague Randi Rhodes was assaulted last night while walking her dog near her New York City home."
"Pointing out that Rhodes was wearing a jogging suit and displayed no purse or jewelry, Elliott speculated that "this does not appear to me to be a standard grab the money and run mugging."
"Is this an attempt by the right wing hate machine to silence one of our own," he asked. "Are we threatening them. Are they afraid that we're winning. Are they trying to silence intimidate us."
Some of blog posters also expressed concerns that the attack on Rhodes was hate crime. Other posters warned that we need more facts before any judgements are made.
"According to Elliott, Rhodes was resting in her New York City apartment and was not hospitalized.
"Attacks on liberal talk radio stations and their hosts are not a new thing. About a month ago a gunman fired a shot through a window at the studios of KPFT, Houston’s, Pacifica station narrowly missing a DJ who was hosting music show at the time. There is currently a $10,000 reward offered to anyone who identifies the shooter.
"This is not the first politically motivated attack on KPFT. More than 35 years ago, the Ku Klux Klan blew up the station's transmitters twice within the Houston station's first year on the air.
"Also, according to a blogger on Democratic Underground, Thom Hartmann said on his Friday show that his auto repairman, after replacing his windshield, pointed out to him that he had three bullet holes in his car.
"Apparently, some right-wing critics of lib talk aren’t happy that conservative talk only accounts for 90% of the programming on talk radio. These whack jobs appear determined to whatever it takes to silence the opposing point of view."
Here's my question; Why would ANYone jump to the conclusion that Randi Rhodes' attacker would've been a Conservative who despised her views? I mean it wasn't Conservatives at Columbia University who attacked Jim Gilchrist (Founder of the Minuteman Project) last year...they're generally not the ones trying to shut those who disagree up!
Isn't it more likely, than not, that it was just someone who despised BAD radio?

I don't know ... why does Rush Limbaugh attack the mother of a dead soldier because she doesn't agree with George Bush? Why does he say that all soldiers who oppose the war or disagree with Bush are "phoney" soldiers?
